The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ brings together tens of thousands of individuals from hundreds of communities around the globe who all participate in the same lesson over the course of a 24 hour period to raise awareness about drowning and the fact that swimming is a vital life-saving skill that every child should learn. Research shows risk of drowning can be reduced by 88% if children participate in formal swimming lessons between ages 1-4. **Children 6 and under must have a parent/guardian signed up and in the water, and children 7 to 12 years old need a parent/guardian at the location during the event. All minor participants need a parent/guardian available to sign waivers at the event sign-in.** Location: The Evergreen State College Pool (Constantino Recreation Center). 2700 Evergreen Parkway, CRC 210. Olympia, WA 98505. Entry Fee: Free. (There is a fee to park on campus). Available Swim Sessions (each session is a half hour). 10:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your swim lesson for waiver sign in. The Daedalus Quartet at Emerald City Music

Emerald City Music is Olympia’s home for top-flight chamber music performances. Now entering its third season, the series brings over 45 classical soloists and chamber musicians to Olympia from every corner of the globe. On December 1st, experience up-close encounter with the Daedalus Quartet, winners of the 2001 Banff International String Quartet Competition and Lincoln Center’s Martin E. Segal Award. Hear Janácek’s Kreutzer Sonata alongside Beethoven’s “Kreutzer” arranged for String Quartet, alongside monumental tunes by Taneyev and Tchaikovsky.
