Robert Carlson was introduced to glass in 1980 and opened his own studio where he has worked since 1987. He has taught workshops at Pilchuck Glass School, Penland School of Crafts, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts and The Glass Furnace, among other glass programs. Carlson is known for creating narrative sculptures using paint and glass to create images and forms that are archetypal and personal, iconographic and idiosyncratic.
