Tower of Power  - Tower of Power plays horn-driven funk. Their hits include "What is Hip" and "Bump City." The group formed in Oakland in 1968. Its lead trumpet player, Mic Gillette, died in January 2016, and Lenny Williams, its lead singer during its heyday, left long ago. There have been many personnel changes over the decades, but some of its early personnel, including drummer Dave Garibaldi, bassist Rocco Prestia, sax player Emilio Castillo, and multi-instrumentalist Stephen Kupka still tour with the band.

Pixies  - Pixies have been acclaimed as the most influential, pioneering band of the late 80s alt/rock movement, having blazed the trail for artists from Nirvana to Radiohead to Pearl Jam, today, a whole new generation of music fans are discovering their iconic "loudquietloud" signature sound. They disbanded in 1993, were back at it in 2004 and went quiet again until 2013, when they released "Bagboy," which was followed in 2014 by "Indie Cindy," their first entire album in more than 20 years. Black Francis, Joey Santiago and David Lovering are soldiering on without Kim Deal, the Pixies' founding bassist.
